The School of International Business is one of the seven sub-schools at Qingdao Harbour Vocational & Technical school, offering two main program groups: Digital Trade and Cruise Tourism. The e-commerce professional program group is a key focus of the Shandong Province Quality School Construction Project, while the International Economics and Trade program is a key program in Qingdao. The Applied Korean program is part of the Shandong Province 3+2 specialized to undergraduate pathway pilot program and the International Cruise Service Management program is a major focus in partnership with the Shandong Province Maritime Technology Brand Program Group.
The school features one provincial-level excellent teaching team in international trade practice and one provincial-level teaching innovation team in e-commerce. The faculty includes one Shandong Province teaching master, one young vocational education skills master from Shandong Province, and two Qingdao teaching masters. Additionally, one faculty member won first place, and one won second place in the Shandong Province Higher Education Young Teachers Teaching Competition. There was also one first-place and three second-place winners in the Shandong Province Vocational school Teaching Competition. Furthermore, the school boasts two "discipline professional mentors" from the Shandong Province Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Mentor Library, one "advanced individual in entrepreneurship and employment" in Qingdao, and 10 "excellent guiding teachers" in the Qingdao Vocational Planning Competition. Eighty percent of the faculty have industry backgrounds, and all faculty members hold professional qualification certificates.
The school has developed over 10 provincial and school-level high-quality courses, including "Foreign Trade Documentation Practice." It offers a Shandong Province course on "Cross-border E-commerce Practice" that incorporates ideological and political education. The school has also established two Shandong Province vocational education high-quality online courses: "Comprehensive International Trade Training" and "Business English." It has completed over 30 educational research projects from various sources, including the Ministry of Education and Shandong Province.
The school partners with Qingdao-based trade and logistics companies and five-star hotels, offering 12 order classes each year. It established a mixed-ownership sub-school, the New School of Business, in collaboration with Shandong Wang Shang Technology Group. Additionally, the school formed a School of Modern Industry with Shandong Port Services Development Group and Cruise Tourism Group. The school features 17 advanced training rooms, including Korean language oral practice, comprehensive international trade training, foreign trade product workshops, cross-border e-commerce training, short video marketing training, comprehensive cruise training, and comprehensive flight attendant training. These facilities handle real projects from companies and provide hands-on training annually.
The school embraces a teaching philosophy of "competition-driven teaching and learning" and integrates innovation and entrepreneurship education into its curriculum. Over the past three years, students in the School of International Business have won over 100 awards in departmental, provincial, and national innovation and entrepreneurship competitions and vocational skills competitions. These students possess exceptional professional skills and a well-rounded skill set.
