The school offers a Marine Engineering Technology program with a 3+2 pathway to a bachelor’s degree, as well as an integrated three-two education pathway from secondary to higher vocational education. Marine Engineering Technology and Navigation Technology are both nationally recognized key programs. In 2011, the Marine Engineering Technology program was recognized as a provincial specialty by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education. In 2013, the Ship Electrical Engineering Technology program was recognized as a key program in Qingdao. In 2018, the Navigation Technology program group was designated as a provincial brand program group. The school also leads the development of the Shandong Province higher vocational education curriculum guidelines for Marine Engineering Technology and Ship Electronic and Electrical Technology.

The school includes departments for Ship Mechanics, Ship Electrical, Navigation, and Maritime Training. It boasts training labs with marine simulators, ship maneuvering simulators, ship main power, ship main engine assembly and disassembly, ship auxiliary machine assembly and disassembly, ship refrigeration, ship air conditioning, ship steering gear, medium-voltage power station, ship artistry, navigation instruments, GMDSS communications, and more.

The school employs 53 staff members, including 10 with senior technical titles such as associate professor. Twenty-two specialized instructors hold certifications such as captain, chief officer, chief engineer, and first engineer. Faculty members actively participate in competitions and have earned third place in the National University Teachers Informatization Teaching Design Competition, third place in the Shandong Province Microlectures Competition, second place in the Qingdao Port Group Science and Technology Innovation Awards, and first, second, and third places in the Harbor school Informatization Teaching Competition. They have also earned a bronze award in the National Vocational school Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. In the past five years, the faculty has published over 100 papers. The faculty teams of Marine Engineering Technology and Navigation Technology programs have been recognized as Provincial-level Excellent Teaching Teams. The school has developed one nationally recognized high-quality online course, "Unveiling Navigation." It offers six provincial-level high-quality courses, including "Ship Auxiliary Machinery," "Ship Electrical Drives and Control," "Ship Main Engine," "Maritime Freight Transportation," "Maritime Meteorology and Oceanography," and "Ship Structure and Equipment." Additionally, there are three provincial-level high-quality shared resource courses: "Operation and Maintenance of Ship Auxiliary Machinery," "Operation and Maintenance of Ship Main Engine," and "Maritime Freight Transportation." At the institutional level, there are five high-quality shared resource courses: "Ship Management," "Marine Engineering Automation," "Maritime Meteorology and Oceanography," "Cargo Stowage and Lashing," and "Introduction to Cruise Ships."

The school boasts strong research and teaching capabilities. It has undertaken projects from the Ministry of Transport’s Modern Maritime school Bureau and launched a national key laboratory open fund project in ship power engineering technology of transport industry. The school has applied for 10 provincial-level projects and six teaching research projects.
